APLU’s Council on Government Affairs (CGA) reports that the Senate Democratic Conference voted yesterday to keep its leadership team with Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) as Minority Leader, Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) as Senate Democratic whip, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) as conference vice chairman and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) as conference secretary. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was unanimously re-elected to remain Minority Leader. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) was elected as Senate Republican Whip and Sen. John Thune (R-SD) and Sen. John Barraso (R-WY) were re-elected Chairmen of the Senate Republican Conference and Republican Policy Committee respectively.

House Republicans voted to retain Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in their top three slots. And yesterday morning, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that she would like to stay on as Minority Leader in the House.
