When the new Congress is sworn in, North Carolina’s US House delegation will go from 7 Democrats & 6 Republicans to 4 Democrats & 9 Republicans.
John Kline, a Minnesota Republican, will remain chairman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, while Virginia Foxx, a North Carolina Republican, will return as chairwoman of the House subcommittee on higher education. The committee also adds three new Republican members — Susan Brooks and Luke Messer, both of Indiana, and Richard Hudson of North Carolina. Hudson attended UNC Charlotte, serving as Student Body President before receiving his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science.
